Where Life Begins: Found In Scripture

For centuries, society knew that life began within the womb of woman. However, in this day and time, society is trying to redefine when human life begins and the role men and women have in the creation of that human life. Even before the passing of Roe, society was looking for a way to exterminate unwanted pregnancies, through the use of, as Jeff Durbin of Apologia Church says, “pills and potions.”

The Scriptures are clear. God, and those who He spoke to, saw life as starting in the womb. I have listed every passage a quick search found with the keyword of womb being used. I will highlight just a few.

In Genesis 25:23-24, the author speaks of two nations were in the womb of Rebecca. Verse 25 even states, “the first came out.” Clearly the Scriptures make it clear that the life of these two nations, Jacob and Esau, began in the womb of Rebecca.

A second mentioning in Genesis of life beginning in the womb is found in chapter 29:31-30:24. God would allow Leah and Rachel to bear the foundational leaders of the twelve tribes of the nation of Israel. Clearly the use of the words conceived and bore are indications that life begins in the womb and is continued after the child is born.

Continuing in the Old Testament, The book of the Exodus tells the story of why a government would want to murder its slaves. As stated, Exodus 1:9, “Behold the people of Israel are too many and too mighty for us. Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and, if war breaks out, they join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land.” The fear of a people being greater than the sociopaths and psychopaths to control is a threat to their control and power.

And they appoint “taskmasters” to afflict them (Exodus 1:11). These taskmaster’s purpose was to keep the people under control. However, these afflictions would do nothing, but make the people multiply even more.

In the end, the government handle the growth of these people they feared by commanding the midwives to murder the male babies (Exodus 1:16). Does any of this sound familiar? Look up Charles Darwin, Margret Sanger, Adolfo Hitler, and the platform of the Democrat party; and you would find a very familiar actions and language.

These are just a few examples from the Old Testament. The New Testament speaks of conceiving in the womb (Luke 1:31), the baby in the womb (Luke 1:41), and Nicodemus says to Jesus, “Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born? (John 3:4b). Clearly the New Testament recognizes that life begins in the womb.

Despite knowing this many in the church today can’t bring themselves to recognize that life begins within the womb. By doing so, they must acknowledge that the willful ending of life within the womb is murder. Any “leader” that refuses to acknowledge that the ending of innocent life is murder, they demonstrate their refusal to see Scripture as having authority in their life.
